WOW – We had a terrible score last week during the wild card weekend. The funny thing is, we felt the opposite of all the plays but something was off. We think the NFL wants a Chiefs vs Packers Super Bowl so maybe by eliminating two heavyweights, this will bring that to light. Before we get into some of the major picks for this weekend let us look at some interesting wild card facts.
Each Year We Some Interesting Things
- That was the first home playoff loss for the Patriots since the 2012 AFC Championship.
- This was the Vikings first OT win in a playoff game.
- Seattle Rookie Records – DK Metcalf had 160-yards receiving. Most by a rookie for Seattle in the postseason.
Now, let’s get into our picks for the divisional games. There are some good ones ahead so be ready for some more upsets and meltdowns. You can’t count the teams out that you think won’t pull it off. This is the NFL. Anything can happen unless it is rigged.
Minnesota Vikings @ San Francisco 49ers
Do we think the Vikings have it in them to win on the road again? Maybe. Will they? This is the question we are all wondering. They were getting 7.5 last week and now they are getting 7 points. They have it in them to keep it close. If the 49ers implode, which could happen, the Vikings could blow them out. Although the 49ers defense is good enough to keep them in the game should the offense sputter. We are going to take the Vikings and the points +7.
Tennessee Titans @ Baltimore Ravens
Baltimore has been steady all season against large spreads. Even in this week’s playoff game, the Ravens are 9.5 favorites. That is a lot of points in the playoffs. Books want us to put money on the Titans. They know people are betting on the Ravens in this one. Currently, money is pretty even on both sides. The Titans are kind of like the Nationals in baseball. They weren’t expected to do anything and look how that turned out. We aren’t sure if they win but they can cover this one. We are taking the Titans +9.5.
Houston Texans @ Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to win. In fact, they are also 9.5 favorites. The Texans do have some momentum coming off that overtime win against the Bills. The Chiefs are rested and ready to go. This will be a weather game. If the weather is crappy we think the Texans will not fair to well. However, this will give us an under 51 game. In any case, we are taking the Texans on the road +9.5 and the Under of 51.
Seattle Seahawks @ Green Bay Packers
Russel Wilson can play the Packers and Rodgers can play the Seahawks. We’ve seen it done many times over. This week will be very interesting. We saw the Seahawks do well on the road against a Wentzless team. They took care of what they needed to and came out with a big win on the road. The Packers are riding some seasonal momentum but with a bye week that may shake things up. We are going to take the Seahawks +4 on the road.
Maybe this is a mistake taking all the road teams but we like the momentum they are carrying. All the home teams had a bye last week. Four of these teams are expected to win. There is no way all four cover the deep spreads in the divisional playoffs. We are sticking to our points and away picks.
