It’s been an interesting year in sports and it will most likely stay interesting for the 2020 NFL season. What will the games look like this year and how will it change the way you bet on games?
As far as we know, We’ll be treating the season just like any other. The only difference may be some home-field advantages. Without fans, football isn’t the same. At least in the NBA and NHL, you have non-stop action. In football, you have maybe a 1-10 second play followed up with a long delay and so on. Being a fan is the reason we bet.
We’ll have to dig in a little deeper this year to find the games that stand out.
All lines listed below are what Draftkings currently shows. These are subject to change so be on the lookout for movement as we get closer.
Thursday Night Battle should be a good one. I guess the bookmakers don’t think so.
Houston Texans Vs. Kansas City Chiefs
One of the better playoff games from last year kicks off on Thursday night. We have the reigning world champs at home against the Texans. Does KC have what it takes to continue another run? We think so. However, do we think they blow away the Texans by more than 10? I would say in front of fans, maybe, but being the first game of the NEW season we have to take the Texans on the road getting +9 points.
Cleveland Browns Vs. Baltimore Ravens
I would say the 2nd game will be a lot tighter, but we have to stick with the Ravens at home. I can totally see the Browns scoring first, but then the Ravens will take over the rest of the game. 8 points is always a lot in a divisional battle, but the first week of the season has the Ravens all over it. I actually like this game the most. Take the Ravens -8 points.
Philadelphia Eagles Vs. Washington Football Team
It is really difficult for me not to call the Team, the Redskins. Where does it go from here is unknown. What we do know is, the Eagles own the Team on opening day no matter where they play. In this case, we are sticking with the Eagles on the road. “The Team” is a couple more years away from being contenders. Let’s see how some of their youngsters do this year. Take the Eagles +6.
Miami Dolphins Vs. New England Patriots
This is shaping up to be a trap bet. Miami is coming in with a lot of new and the Patriots are coming in with a lot of new and old. Cam Newton is healthy and not washed up. He is also playing for the best coach in the league. Do you really think the Dolphins keep the game close in week one? We don’t think so. In fact, we think the Patriots prove they don’t need Tom Brady. Take the Patriots at home -6.5.
Las Vegas Raiders Vs. Carolina Panthers
There is a lot happening in this game. The one thing we think won’t be happening is defense. We think this goes into a shootout and definitely goes over the 47.5 points. In fact, we think this one goes well beyond that number. Take the Over at 47.5.
Dallas Cowboys Vs. LA Rams
Why does Dallas always get night games? Well, because they have a large fan base and since this is 100% TV, they had to do it. The Rams, however, should be able to handle the Cowboys at home getting points. Getting points at home opening day on Sunday night is a no brainer for us. Take the Rams at +3.
This wraps up our picks for this week. Although anything can happen, we feel pretty confident in our picks. Looking for that edge is key and this weekend things are going to get interesting.
