We are getting to that point in the season where the playoff push is on. For some teams, they’ve already clinched their spots in the playoffs while others are fighting for a spot or are eliminated. Why is this important? You need to consider many things when it comes to the spreads. A team that is eliminated may want to play spoiler but they also don’t want to get hurt this late in the season. There are a lot of factors and we will try to steer you in the right direction.
We were above 500 last week considering there were a lot of tough games to pick from. Teams you think will explode for a lot of points didn’t and others just fell on their faces. We’ll get into this week’s picks right after we break down some interesting statistics.
Facts that are Pretty Cool
- Frank Gore is now 3rd on the NFL most rushing yards. – A pretty amazing feat.
- We have to mention the Bengals reaching 0-11 for the first time ever.
- Michael Thomas is a solid WR with 100+ yards five games in a row.
- Redskins get their first win at home since week seven last year.
- Patriots have now won 21 games at home in a row.
Getting into some week 13 games is pretty interesting. Something to note, there are no more bye weeks. This means all teams are in action and we could see some strange matchups. If you’ve been struggling with your picks let us know. We can’t guarantee you wins but we can give you some insight when making your decision. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut. Last night’s game was one of those walks in the park. We just knew the Ravens would roll.
Thanksgiving Picks
Thanksgiving brings a different atmosphere to the field. If you like watching football with your turkey, make sure you get some of your picks in at one of our favorite sportsbooks.
Chicago Bears @ Detroit Lions
Detroit is pretty much hosed this year and the big question is, are they packing it in? They let the Redskins defense deliver a performance Redskins fans haven’t seen in years. Turnovers, Kickoff Returns, and six sacks. Chicago, which was rated as one of the best defenses in the game may be hungry. The line is giving Detroit points at home. We like points at home but without Matthew Stafford, we just don’t see the Lions pulling this one out. The over/under is currently 38.5 and we do like the over. Both teams are coming off poor offensive performances and they will be looking to improve. We are taking the over 38.5.
Updated – This was interesting as the first quarter had a lot of points but the closure didn’t come to the 4th quarter.
Buffalo Bills @ Dallas Cowboys
Has Dallas hit a wall or are they better than most people think? The Bills are looking pretty legit against bad teams. When they face good ones they have a tendency not to show up sometimes. We like a bounce-back game from Dallas here. Dallas on Thanksgiving is a pretty strong bet and FanDuel is definitely showing that in the line. We will ride the Cowboys at home at -6.5.
Updated – Well, we know the Cowboys aren’t legit.
New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons
The Saints have shown some weaknesses lately and although they won last week, they didn’t cover again. The bookies are watching them closely and may play some tricks on sports bettors. We do think after the Falcons loss at home last week, they continue down that path. We are taking the Saints on the road at -6.5.
Updated – This got quite annoying at the end but the Saints still pulled it off.
Sunday Games
Green Bay Packers @ New York Giants
The Giants are showing some life but we don’t think they are showing enough to beat the Packers, let alone keep it within a touchdown. The Packers need this win big time and will put everything on the line. The defense will need to make a play or two for this to cover but we think they do. We are taking the Packers on the road at -6.5.
Updated – Pretty easy for us to take the Packers here and it worked out without pain.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Miami Dolphins
This is another must-win for the Eagles. Giving 9.5 on the road to the not so terrible Dolphins is questionable. This will come down to Wentz and Jackson. If they both play to take the Birds but we think the Dolphins should cover this at home at +9.5.
Updated – We actually got Miami +10. We almost took a small live bet midway through the first half +460 for Miami to win.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ Jacksonville Jaguars
There isn’t much to discuss here other than points. Both non-playoff teams will go after each other and produce a lot of points. We think this over maybe the play of the week. It’s a bit steep but that won’t matter. We are taking over 48.5 in this one.
Updated – Jacksonville looked like crap and this is why we didn’t cover.
Los Angeles Chargers @ Denver Broncos
The Broncos put up 3 points last week against a really good Buffalo defense. The Chargers defense isn’t as good. We think a bounce-back game at home is what Denver has in order. Both teams are playing for pride at this point. We are taking the points at home. Look for Denver to get a win at +2.5.
This wraps up week 13 picks. We have a full slate this week so be on the lookout for some interesting games. Make sure you watch the weather as well. Look how it affected the outcome in the Dallas – New England game last week. Also, keep an eye out for that Vikings vs Seahawks game. 48.5 is telling me something. I don’t think it gets that high.
