What did we learn from last week? Quite a bit actually. This past week was all about finding the defensive side of the ball. We always talk about the great plays quarterbacks or running backs make. Kansas City showed us that even without Patrick Mahomes, the defense could step up and help secure the win. New England was awesome on defense and their offense was just average. Without going into every game, we are sure you caught a lot of the action. There were several returns for TD’s, safeties and more.
Storylines From Week Seven
- How are we already this far into the 2019 season?
- 2008 was the last time the Bills were 5-1 to start the season.
- On another note, the Bengals are 0-7 for the first time since 2008.
- 49ers are 6-0 for the first time since 1990 – Stat of the day.
- How about Teddy Bridgewater winning the eight of his last nine road games as a starter.
Let’s get into some week eight picks. There are always variables that come closer to game time so be ready to adjust if necessary.
Arizona Cardinals @ New Orleans Saints
This is an interesting game. We have the Cardinals who are playing well coming into New Orleans getting 9.5. This is a lot of points and is something to watch. However, we have to ride the Saints this week once again. Until we know they can’t cover, we will stay with Teddy. Saints -9.5 at home.
Updated – It turns out it was Brees that carried us to victory in this one.
Denver Broncos @ Indianapolis Colts
We have a pretty bad Broncos team coming into Colts territory. Two horses going at it this weekend. The spread of -6 seems a bit wide. These two teams are notorious for keeping games close enough. Although we think the Colts will win we don’t think they can cover the spread. We are taking Denver at +6.
Updated – Turned out to be a small scoring affair only to be won by the Colts in the last seconds of the game.
New York Giants @ Detroit Lions
We know the Giants aren’t that good this year. We also know that Detroit is having a hard time finishing games. They are good enough to win tough games so in this case against the Giants they should be good enough to beat a bad team by 7. As long as the line stays where it is, this game should be in your grasp. You can also consider the over at 49. This is a lot of points but they both can score and the defenses will both give up a lot of points. Take the Lions -7 at home.
Updated – We are now over the Lions. They should have covered this one for sure. They blew it with a late garbage touchdown.
Philadelphia Eagles @ Buffalo Bills
Something tells us the Eagles are due for a win in Buffalo. The Eagles are only getting 2.5 on the road. In this case, we like the Birds on the Moneyline so don’t have to pay the -125 if you take the points. The Eagles need a bounce game and the Bills need a letdown game. This is the perfect weekend to take the road underdog. Take the Eagles Moneyline.
Updated – This worked out perfectly. Everything went right for the Eagles and not so much for the Bills.
Carolina Panthers @ San Francisco 49ers
The Panthers are traveling across the country for a battle with one of the best teams in the NFL. The 49ers do look legit and we are taking them -5.5 at home. The Panthers may show up and give them a game but we don’t think 5.5 points is enough.
Updated – This was over in no time. We hope you jumped on this one.
Other games you can consider are the Patriots at home against the Cleveland Browns and the Houston Texans at home going against the Oakland Raiders. Good luck with all of your picks this weekend and let us know if you need help getting set up in any way.
