Recently, FOX Bet became an Authorized Gaming Operator of Major League Baseball. This came just a few days after the FOX Bet sportsbook went live in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. So, what exactly is FOX Bet?

What is FOX Bet?

Fox Bet is a betting platform that stemmed from FOX’s partnership with The Stars Group. The FOX Bet mobile app and website are designed to rival those of newer U.S. online sportsbooks such as FanDuel and DraftKings. In contrast to those companies though, FOX Bet has customized the online experience by using the influence of its on-air personalities.

When you head to the FOX Bet website, you’re greeted by Charissa Thompson offering you $20, up to $100 in free cash for signing up and making a deposit. When you scroll down, you’ll see Colin Cowherd prominently displayed, highlighting his popular “Blazin 5” series. You’ll also see the cast of FOX’s sports daily betting show, “Lock it In.”

FOX is leveraging both sides of the table here, using known media personalities to make you feel more comfortable with their product. At the same time, it’s free promotion for their sports betting content.

FOX Bet Promotions

There are two promotions currently running for FOX Bet: a signup bonus, and an initial deposit bonus. For simply signing up, users will get a no-strings-attached $20 bonus added to their account. FOX will also match your initial deposit up to $100 with a no-strings-attached bonus. This is a nice touch compared to some online sportsbooks which require a large rollover amount before your free cash bonus is yours to withdrawal.

Betting Boosts

When you open the app or visit the FOX Bet website, you’ll notice “betting boosts” available from different Fox Sports personalities. For example, Rachel Bonnetta host of “Lock it In” will have a different boost available compared to FOX Sports reporter Charissa Thompson. In fact, every Fox personality has their own specialized bonus to offer.

Colin Cowherd’s bonus is that whenever his “Blazin 5” NFL picks have a winning week you can double your money on Sundays. Charissa Thompson will have a “Custom Bet Boost” every week on Sunday night. Meanwhile, Cousin Sal will also have a custom bet, which provides your money back on Thursday if it doesn’t win. Chris Carter gets a Monday bet boost, Rachel Bonnetta gets a boost on Tuesday, Nick Wright gets Wednesday, and Clay Travis is featured on Saturday.

The Bet Boost is designed to make users feel that they’re getting value on their bet. But the only way to calculate the true value is to compare the FOX Bet odds to another sportsbook. And when the prop play is as obscure as “Travis Kelce to Score a TD & Chiefs to Win” I’m not so sure +225 provides any actual value. As for the +200 line that’s been crossed, that’s the oldest marketing trick in the book.

However, with that said, “Rachel’s Double Up Bet Boost” is providing what appears to be clear value with a juice-free line on the Chiefs. This could be seen as generous by some, but to the more skeptical eye, it may also simply be the book trying to get as much action as possible on the road favorite. Only time will tell how long FOX can continue to offer these specials, but it certainly makes for a more interesting, and potentially profitable experience.

FOX Bet #CustomBet

The #CustomBets are more exotic prop plays than the general public would typically see on offer for most games. The Super Bowl is famous for its incredibly vast selection of prop plays that sportsbooks will make available, but FOX is attempting to create new and fun prop plays to make even the most boring games just a bit more interesting.

Where Can I Use FOX Bet?

Currently, FOX Bet is only available to customers in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. As legalized sports betting continues to roll out to the rest of the country, FOX Bet should be in most states throughout the U.S.
